Where can I hike/offroad/explore around here?
A big hobby of mine is hiking around in the sticks. I'm not talking about organized trails where yuppies hang out, I like finding/exploring offbeat stuff. Is there anything like that around here?
I'm really interested in anything and everything.
Also, anywhere that I could go offroading on a dirt bike would be cool beans. I've always wanted to get a few friends and go on some camping/offroading trip.
Everything I have seen was posted with no trespassing signs.

Check up near Scranton. There's quite a few spots along 81.

Spend $30 and buy hourself a Northeastern PA map from Jimapco or a PA Atlas and Gazetteer from Delorme. Lots of good areas marked on maps.
Being in East Stroudsburg, you are located within 45 minutes of tens of thousands of acres of public and public access land. Probably the largest area of combined public land in the state. Off the top of my head I can think of the following...
Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area
Delaware State Forest
Lackawanna State Forest
Tobyhanna State Park
Bender Natural Area
Gouldsboro State Park
Jacobsburg State Park
Ricketts Glen State Park
Brady's Lake
F.E. Walter dam
Prompton State Park
About 10 different State Game Lands
About 6 different TNC properties
10,000 acres owned by the Bethlehem Water Authority
Pocono Environmental Education Center
Lake Minsi/Bear Swamp
and I know I'm probably leaving out a few places.
Leave the phone and GPS in the car, get an honest-to-god paper map and go have fun exploring. There's lots to do around bere if you like the outdoors.
If you're an ESU student, don't forget about Stony Acres.
ETA: Sorry, can't help you on the dirt bike part. Not many places around where those are legal to ride. There used to be a place in White Haven/Big Boulder area that had a pay to ride area called Trax or something like that. Don't know if it's still there, though. Google it.Last edited by Sandcut; December 1st, 2013 at 10:08 PM.

Up in Tioga and Potter county and some ways south there is tons of state forest, trails and not much civilization. If you look on the map from Wellsboro to Emporium, there is a lot of rugged country in between.
