Re: too old
It's too old when they can pry me from its cold dead trigger. Wait, that came out wrong.
Actually, I agree, it's a matter of condition rather than age. I have a model 1911 that dates back to 1916 according to the serial number. Of course somebody bubbaed it with a home made bluing job so the collector value is nil, but a professional reblue and some TLC and it's a great shooter. Take care of your stuff and your stuff will take care of you.Know your audience. Don't try to sell a Prius at a Monster Truck Rally.

Re: too old
My oldest firearm is a Nagant revolver made in 1924, but I doubt very much it'll be my primary carry piece! My second oldest is a Walther P-1 from 1963. It was brand-new in the box, but can't handle +P ammo due to its aluminum frame. All my carry pieces were purchased new and are very far from being "shot-out."

Re: too old
I agree with everyone else here, unless this is my wife asking, then clearly I need a new carry gun every 2-3 years because the old one went bad.

Re: too old
One of my favorite ccw's is my Star BKS from @ 1972. Finish is about completely gone on it but it functions well and is a perfect size for me. As others have said I really wouldn't consider age a factor as long as everything functions well.

Re: too old
If you are truly concerned, I run an old age home for guns. Send it my way and I will take care of it for you.
The USA is now a banana republic. Only without the bananas....or the Republic.
