Default Very good gloves/mittens rifle hunting?

Hello. I will be hunting this year in early December up in the Poconos PA. I am looking for gloves. My hands freeze every year here in VA and from what I understand it gets way colder up in the mountains of PA. Even with those Mechanics gloves you see everywhere my hands feel like iceblocks.

I have been doing some reading and allot of people say that the mittens with the magnetic flaps work really well. Some say you put gloves underneath those?

So do I need to wear gloves under the mittens? Any help here would be great.

What is an excellent mitten or/and glove to buy?

    Thanks

I have a pair of thin fleece gloves that I wear under thick, magnet flap mittens. Finger articulation when needed, warm hands the rest of the time. I also put a hand warmer in the flap part.

If you are on a stand, nothing works. I have tried many, but you loose dexterity with the bulky ones. Finally I ended up with one of those hand warmers you tie around your waste, then put a thermal pack inside it as needed, combined with thinner gloves it works like a champ.
If I am still hunting, almost any new technology glove works, I look for wind shear and or gore tex with trigger finger dexterity.

I just wear a simple pair of brown cotton gloves ....the only difference is it put a hand warmer on the top of my hand under the glove it fits snug and thus keeps my hands toastie.

I purchased a pair of the magnetic flip mittens a few years back, they are great. Your hands stay warmer for sure than with just gloves.

I have a pair of these http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cloth...3Bcat104000580 and I got a pair of these for underneath http://www.seirus.com/tactical-detai...-ByTag/gloves/ and if my hands are still too cold I put hand warmers in the mitten part. But the draw back for the mitts is they use velcro not magnets to keep them back.

I see the fleece mittens that flip open have been recommended already, .

I could not believe how well they worked until I borrowed a friend's to try one day. I went out the next day and bought a cheap pair of fleece Winchester flip open mittens from KMart for about $9, and they work better than the $100 goretex gloves I bought from Cabelas.

Now you can't go digging around in the snow with them b/c once they're wet they suck, but just for walking around and general hunting they are great. Good thing is they fold up so small you can bring a spare pair with you in your coat pockets, so if they do get wet you can have a back up pair ready.
