Default If you could only buy one of these...

Ok here is the low down I'm buying another gun and have a certain amount of funds. I have a decent collection but there is always more room for new guns. Given the current politics, ammo shortages, and any other factor which would you buy and why?

These are all within my budget and are what I narrowed it down to.

    1) Brand new JRC carbine in 9mm (saw early ones stunk but new ones get rave reviews)

    2) DPMS oracle

    3) s&w sport

    4) saiga 762x39 plus maybe a second cheap gun

    5) Ruger American 22 and something cheap

    6) AK47 cia polish I think

    7) Layaway a great deal on a s&w ar15 for a decent price I found.

    8) tec 9 variant and another .22 rifle

Prolly the Ruger American. I have no interest in the M&P rifle line because for a few dollars more you can find better rifles with better traits. The Oracle (I believe) needs optics and/or irons to be ready to go. If that's not a problem then so be it but I would rather buy something that's done and ready for use. Granted, the American doesn't have any sights on it, either, but it's a bolt gun. That's almost expected. The Saiga would be my only other real option.

Lots of variables and you've listed different 'categories': AR vs AK vs 22 vs pistol caliber. Each has its purpose. Even harder since you already have a collection. What are you looking to accomplish with your new purchase? Add more of the same, something different, fill a void? That said, the Saiga (IMHO) is probably the most bang for the buck, ready to roll right out of the box. About $450 now.

Add to a collection, possible investment down the road, shoot at the range from time to time.

Pretty much majority just add to a collection I have mostly all guns one "needs" this is just giggles

I like Polish AK's so my vote goes there. During these ammo shortages 7.62x39 could almost always be found in bulk and is still readily available.

The Ruger American would be my second choice as a hunting gun.

Maybe Tec9 or similar then. Never thought they were all that practical, but a friend of mine has a Mac 10 in 9mm. Fun to shoot, but kind of looks like it was made in somebody's garage

Polish AK's are very nice. Some 'Polish' Ak's are not. I personally wouldn't want one with a US receiver AND US barrel made by Century. But those made with original chrome lined Polish barrels usually fetch quite a premium. Recently picked up an underfolder on GB for $600 listed as a 'second' that had a very slight issue that took 10-15 minutes to correct. Matching parts kit with original barrel. Pretty sweet. Seller is wadeseastsideguns in WA state and had both fixed and underfolder stock models built on NDS receivers. Might still be selling them.

And agree with Firebird, 7.62x39 has been pretty available.

Do you have a "black rifle" yet - any sort of AR type or AK variant? If you don't, after seeing what happened during the last political nonsense, that is what I would get. If you decide you don't like that type and the powers that be pull some political hijinks, you most likely can sell it for more than you paid. Plus they are a hoot to shoot !
    My 2 cents.

Id go with the saiga. Ammo is still fairly cheap and available and if your handy you can convert it yourself down the road.
