Glock 17 issue
I picked up a Gen 2.5/3 (2 pin) Glock 17 in a trade. It hadn't been shot in years and I cleaned all the dust and grime out of it. The only thing I added to it was a Vickers extended slide stop.
I went to the range this past weekend to finally shoot it. After the first 4 rounds fired, the slide locked back. I re-racked the slide and fired another 2 rounds before it locked back again. This happened probably happened 2 more times on the same magazine. My buddy fired a different mag and it probably happened 2-3 times as well.
I don't believe it's the extended slide stop, as this is installed correctly in my other glock as well. My G30 has no issues.
Ammo was Winchester White box 115gr FMJ.
Limp wristing should be written off as well.
Is there a spring that may need replaced since the pistol sat for so long?
Thanks for the help

Re: Glock 17 issue
i'd take that slide stop off and shoot to see what happens, that's probably a much easier trouble shoot than going through springs and such.
how's your grip technique? have you shot a glock with this extension before? maybe your hitting the slide stop during recoil without realizing? i've heard of extended slide stops adding weight on the spring and not holding the bolt/slide back on the last round so i'd assume the spring's tension would be holding the slide stop in the up positing therefore a worn out srping would fail to engage instead of engaging too soon.
just my guess as i'm not a glock armorer, hope this helps.Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

Re: Glock 17 issue
My guess is you either installed a slidestop for a 3 pin frame or you installed the slidestop wrong. Make sure the spring is under the pin, if not it will do exactly as you described.

Re: Glock 17 issue
Thanks guys. I was thinking maybe because it's a two pin instead of a 3 pin glock that's affecting it. I'll switch back to the original slide stop.
Slide stop isn't installed wrong, it's installed the same as my 3 pin Gen 3 Glock 30 without issue.

Re: Glock 17 issue
I try to always shoot a new or used gun before installing new parts so I can eliminate wasted rounds on thinking "is the new product I installed the issue or the gun itself"
Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

Re: Glock 17 issue
Thats the problem that happens if you install the wrong one too. I know from experience because I messed up once .
