I usually recommend a generous helping of elbow grease and swear words.

Vise grips and bench vises are helpful too, as is proper lubrication. Dry parts are often harder to put back together.

I once heard that the bread and butter of a gunsmith's business is re-assembling single shot/side by side shotguns, and lever action rifles.

    Good luck.

The model of gun that you have is relatively obscure nowadays, so there may not be too much info available on the interwebs. Check for info on the Iver Johnson Champion, a very common gun that is mechanically almost identical to a Stevens 94.

What specific part is it that you're having trouble with, if you know?

Try it without the springs. Get a feel for how it goes together. Once you master that, add one spring at a time. This usually helps me when this type of stuff happens.
