    Default Stocking up on lowers

I apologize for the dumb question, but I want to be clear on something:

Hypothetically I buy a few stripped AR15 lowers now, and a bigger, badder "assault weapons" ban goes into effect at the end of the year. I would still be able to purchase all of the additional parts needed in order to assemble legal, complete rifles, correct? If this ban went into place, would prices on the upper, barrel, etc skyrocket?

I'd like to have a decent stocked armory, but would prefer not to spend all of the money right now.

    Thanks,

    Chris

If you want to be "really" safe you'll buy the stuff that was banned last time ahead of time, this means telescoping stocks, bayonet lugged barrels, pistol grip and the all important high-cap magazine.

Wasn't there an issue with building ban stuff during that time too though?

Though if you've got the parts and such..shouldn't be an issue, keep your receipts!

The last ban was really two bans, the large cap. mag. Ban and the assault rifle ban. The large cap. Ban did not stop manufacturing of mags, but required them to be marked "L. E. Only" or some such thing. The assault rifle ban made it illegal to assemble "assault rifles" for sale or possession to anyone other than law enforcement or military. Assembling a rifle on a "pre-ban" receiver was NOT legal. Now, it was hard to prove just when a rifle was assembled, but maybe they could have demanded proof of date of purchase of the components.

THEY ARE MUCH BETTER INFORMED THIS TIME AROUND!!!!

They have already banned importation of US made rifles and parts kits with barrels. It would be easy to make anyone buying repair parts prove prior ownership of the defective parts. For that matter, they could make private manufacture of all firearms illegal, and after that make parts kits illegal. It's a real crap shoot.
