    Default Crimping .45 Auto reloads?

Does anyone here use a crimp die to put a crimp on their .45 Auto reloads? Is it necessary for 230 gr FMJ target loads?

I taper crimp to remove the bell from case mouth expanding. Are you belling cases for fmj? If so its gotta go.if you can't push you bullet deeper with your fingers your ok. Compare yours to factory in this regard.

Same for me. A light taper to remove the flare.

Light taper, nothing more than a standard set of dies does.

I use a profile crimp die. Evidently contrary to others, I believe the case should squeeze the bullet to hold it in place, and a consistent crimp is essential for rounds that perform consistently. JMHO.

I use a Lee Factory Crimp Die as well. Very light crimp though. If you are interested in one I accidentally bought a second one and would let it go cheap, it's brand new in the box. I work in Kutztown so we could arrange a pick up if you're interested. Let me know.

Thanks I appreciate the offer, but there was one included with my Lee 4-die set when I bought that.

    +1

That's what I use and I have had no problems. You don't want to over-crimp the round. Measure some factory ammo and set your crimp die to duplicate the factory case mouth OD.
