Default 2013 Inline Muzzle Loader Season Results

My son and I hunt 5A and 5B for archery but we hunt 4A for muzzle loader and rifle. Today we made the trip over to Franklin/Fulton county to put up our tree stands and mark our spots on the GPS.

I have him set up in a spot where I saw deer walk through last year. The following weekend, I'll continue to hunt muzzle loader during the 3 day special antlerless season for jr and sr hunters.

I just won a ML (Traditions Pa. Pellet Flintlock) but haven't picked it up yet so I won't be out in the early season but hopefully will make the late season.

I'll be following this thread, looking for load data so please include it in your success stories.

    Thanks,

    Dale

Well i got out this afternoon for a few hours. Took a slow walk up to where i missed a doe on friday with the crossbow. After getting to where i wanted to stand i had a doe bedded down about 5 yards from me in the heavy grass.Never seen her until she stood up and bolted.I got a standing broad side shot at her at about 75 yards. I missed

SO i walked out there to check for blood and make sure it was a clean miss. She stood there after the shot and looked around, then trotted away with her tail up. So i got out there and no blood or anything. So i reloaded and walked back to where i was standing when i shot at her.I hear something behind me move. I turn my head and see a large doe standing there looking at me. I didnt see the 3 others behind her. She was about 40 yards away, broadside. I took aim just behind her front should and BAM!!! let it rip. She stood there and snorted at me for a minute before running off.

All in all it was a very exciting afternoon in the woods.

Got one last night, CVA Optima, 250 Gr. Hornady SST, two pellets of 777 Magnum. 40 yrd heart shot, deer jumped a fence and died in the tall grass---good thing I found blood or I might have never found her.

I just cleaned up the backstraps, cut wrapped and in the freezer, tomorrow I'll get the hams and the shoulders de-boned, cleaned, cut and wrapped. I'll also cut some for jerky and get the smoker fired up.

Nice deer! Can I ask what is that thing at the bottom of her feet? A part of a tree stand o something?
