Default Stevieb92's "PAFOA" AR-15 build pics...

Hey all. Well, I have been bitten by the EBR bug almost a year ago by 27Hand's AR that I shot at the May Group Shoot in Pbg. Since then, I had wanted an AR, but didn't actually focus on it. Until, the PAFOA lower deal was proposed with Anvil Arms, and I gotta say, that was all it took for me to commit to the build. So, here is the progress to date:

Lower: Anvil Arms with PAFOA logo (stripped)
Upper: Anvil Arms w/M4 cuts (stripped)
    Lower Parts Kit: DPMS
Upper Parts: DPMS (charging handle, ejection port cover and forward assist)
Rear Sight: Midwest Industries ERS Flip-Up Rear Sight
Magazines: (2) MagPul Pmag 30 Round and (6) AR-Stoner Aluminum Body w/MagPul Follower 30 Round
Buttstock: Command Arms 6-Position Collapsible Buttstock Assembly

    And now the pics...

I assembled the parts this morning, and it took a little over two hours including pics and thoroughly inspecting the parts and the trigger group function. I am happy I went this route instead of buying one. I got up close and personal with the individual parts and how they interact with one another.

I have a few more parts to purchase, as you can tell, but I am getting close to having a complete rifle. I intend to mount some sort of optic, but not for another year or so. Going to use iron sights for a while. A RRA full float tube is next, along with a MI flip front sight, gas block, bolt and carrier group and mid-length gas tube. Barrel is going to be a White Oak 16", mid-length gas, stainless with M4 cuts. Hopefully it shoots straight when I get it all together.

    Thoughts/comments are welcome.

    Thanks for looking!!!

ETA: I did not install the DPMS trigger guard, its getting replaced.

The man doesn't even have a barrel......but those mags are already loaded.

    That says it all.

Looks Awesome Steve! I'm right there with ya, as all I've got to get is my upper and barrel! The waiting is killing me!

Let me know how those P-Mags perform. I've been tossing the idea around of getting a couple.

I've seen a lot of AR's run better on them.

They seem to be very consistent... no more "good and bad ones".

The follower they come with, their resistance to external wear, the cover they come with, how easily they load, the colors you can get them in, how easily they breakdown for cleaning, the customer service, and the consistency we've seen.... makes them well worth the $3 premium over "USGI" mags, IMO.

The wait is killing me too. I started this project back in January... and I am only about half done. I probably could be finished, but I bought about seven hundred rounds of .223 along the way. Going to make another 500 purchase on monday. (Shhhh.... don't tell MrsStevieb92 )

The best place I have found Pmags is from AimSurplus_dot_com for $14.20 plus $0.01 shipping. They are currently out of black, but for the price they can't be beat when compared to steel or aluminum mags.

I plan on writing a lengthy range report when I take her out for her first trials. Hopefully all goes well.

Im literally at the same point in my build except:

My charging handle(s) have not shown yet (accidentally ended up with 2 tactical charging handles...might return or sell one of them)

My m16a1e1 rear sights arent here yet
My teardrop FA isnt here yet
ejection port junk isnt here yet.

So basically a small assortment of upper parts isnt here yet.

Im actually pretty glad I stuck with the A1 upper, sights are always there, should be easy to cowitness later on with an optic and since I have a fat head a 4x optic on the top of the rail wouldnt be a bad thing. I really need to snap some pics of my progress ASAP.
