Duquesne thinks it can have you arrested
Sounds like a fun open carry rally on the campus.

Re: Duquesne thinks it can have you arrested
Is the campus not private property?
He said that despite having a permit, individuals who violate this policy would be arrested for trespassing. Those who do not have a permit will be arrested for a firearms violation.Last edited by twency; October 8th, 2013 at 09:01 PM.

Re: Duquesne thinks it can have you arrested
Are they? I haven't been there, I don't know. From glancing at Google Street View it looks like they could be public or they could be private with connections to public streets.
There's also the issue of sidewalks. A street can be public property without the sidewalk beside it being public property. It might be private property which the landowner merely permits the public to use.
And if you're going to hold a rally march on the basis that "we can't carry on the uni's property but we can carry on the sidewalk!" you better make very sure nobody accidentally stumbles or steps aside onto the grass.
Just be sure to research really carefully before starting anything.I am not a lawyer. Nothing I say or write is legal advice.

Re: Duquesne thinks it can have you arrested
The University has their own police force who's policy is "shoot the shooter" The dept. is run by a former head of something security from Penn state (PSU).

I would be nervous about this, as you don't want shot by an undertrained cop who is looking to be a hero. I assume that aside from parking tickets they normally just gets called to dorm rooms for underage drinking.
Duquesne University considers everything on the Bluff theirs; It is an extreme weapons free campus (think sent home for a gun shaped pop-tart) and as such a VERY likely location for the next mass shooting. After all John Shick was often @ Duquesne.
