3T - 2 day Tactical Handgun
3 Rivers Tactical Training Solutions, Inc. is offering a 2 day Tactical Pistol Course on Saturday, October 26th & Sunday, October 27th, 2013 at the Beaver Valley Rifle and Pistol Club.
This course is designed to introduce and reinforce to students the fundamentals, techniques, tactics, and knowledge necessary for successful deployment of the pistol in a lethal force encounter. This course is designed for anyone who carries a handgun - armed citizen, law enforcement, military, or armed security. Revolvers are absolutely permitted, but pistols are preferred.
Topics covered will be:
1) Firearms Safety Rules
2) Developing Proper Situational Awareness
3) Concealed Carry Laws and Liability Concerns
4) Threat Discrimination
5) 6 Fundamentals of Handgun Marksmanship
6) VERY Heavy Emphasis on Reloads and Malfunction Clearing
7) One-handed Drawing, Shooting, Reloading, and Malfunction Clearing
8) Proper Use of Cover and Concealment
9) Shooting from the Seated Position (chair)
10) Shooting from Vehicles - Drivers Seat
11) Concealed Carry Handgun Selection and Gear Recommendations
12) Duty / Tactical Holster and Gear Selection and Recommendations
13) Multiple Threat Engagement
14) Unorthodox Shooting Positions
15) One and Two Man Room Entries and Hallway Movements
16) Weapon Mounted White Light and Handheld Light Techniques
17) Night shoot exercise
18) Final Tactical Exercise
Required Equipment:
1) A quality pistol or revolver. Pistols must be at least 9mm, revolvers must be at least a .38 Special. Weapon mounted white lights are not required, but are very highly recommended. If you are using a weapon mounted light, you must have a holster that accommodates the light.
2) A quality duty, tactical (drop-leg), or Outside-The-Waistband (OWB) holster that maintains its shape after the handgun has been drawn. (Nylon and thin leather holsters that collapse when the handgun is drawn are not permitted.) Kydex holsters are very strongly recommended. All holsters will be worn on the shooters strong side hip, or upper leg for drop-leg holsters. Inside the Waist Band (IWB) holsters are not permitted for this class. Kydex holsters made by manufacturers such as Raven Concealment Systems, Contact! Concealment, and Comp-Tac are very strongly recommended. Shoulder holsters, small of the back holsters, cross-draw holsters, fanny packs, and ankle holsters are not permitted.
*** Whatever holster you use, you MUST be able to re-holster your handgun each and every time without the aid of your support hand. ***
3) A minimum of two spare magazines w/ belt worn mag pouch for pistol shooters. A minimum of two spare speed loaders w/ belt worn speed loader pouch for revolver shooters. Bring as many spare magazines and speed loaders as you have - the more the better.
4) A duty or tactical belt or a high quality concealed carry belt made to support the weight of a handgun, spare ammo, etc. The belt can be leather or a web style riggers-type belt. There are many good belt options out there - a $4.99 Made-In-Taiwan belt from Wal-Mart is not one of them.
5) 500 rounds of ammo. Reloads are permitted but factory ammo is preferred.
6) A quality handheld flashlight. Preferably not a massive, 6 battery Maglite.
7) Clothing appropriate for weather conditions. BDU or cargo type pants with side pants pockets strongly recommended. Shoes or boots that lace.
8) A cover garment to conceal your handgun for concealed carry drills. A windbreaker type jacket (or something similar) that zippers up the front is perfect.
9) Wrap-around eye protection and a baseball type hat with a brim.
10) An open mind, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
All 3T courses are taught by certified instructors with years of military, law enforcement, and high threat security contracting experience in Iraq and Afghanistan. Threat discrimination and 100% round accountability are core skills that are relentlessly emphasized.

There is no such thing as "advanced firearms skills". There is only the perfect execution of the fundamentals while under stress.

Re: 3T - 2 day Tactical Handgun
Starting with this class I've decided to include more tactics into my classes, specifically tactics related to home defense - establishing strong points, room entries and clearing, negotiating stairwells, and link up with responding law enforcement will now be a core part of all my classes.
While these tactics are geared towards home defense, they are universal to include work place settings, active shooter scenarios, etc., etc.

Re: 3T - 2 day Tactical Handgun
If you are interested in the class and need ammo, I have a limited amount of 9mm and .40 FMJ ammo for sale. This ammo is for sale ONLY to folks who sign up for this class.
I am making zero profit on this ammo. I am selling it for exactly what I paid for it.
Please contact me if interested.

This class is coming up this weekend. Slots are still available.

Wish i could make it there for this. Have fun and be safe. Chris take notes. I cant quiet my inner nerd.
On a side note John my note pad from the class I took with you comes out every time i go to the range. I have one page that says nothing but SLOW DOWN written on it. Pretty good advice.

Hey Toby - good to hear from you brother.
Yeah - SLOW DOWN - is without a doubt the number one thing I tell people in every single class, regardless of weapon system.
Hope to see you at another class.
