    Default 4046

Put this on layaway a couple months back at Robertson's and almost forgot about it. Picked it up today. Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office S&W 4046. 40 cal, 2 mags, night sites - substancial gun - not bad for the $. Will sit nicely next to the 6906 and CS40

Very nice. I would probably pick one up if they were DA/SA. Was this model affected by the recall like the 5906 for the grips cracking? Check in the corners by the magwell.

I have a 4006 with adjustable sight. Love those Gen 3 Smiths. Got a 1006 and 4506 also. Looking for a nice 5906 with adjustable sights to complete my full size line up.

    Grats on a great gun.

Thanks for the tip - no issues on mine that I can see. I actually like the DA only. When I carry my 6906 or CS40 I de-cock it and carry DA for safety, so this one I actually can carry the same way, but don't have to de-cock. Pretty hefty gun, so will probably only carry in the Winter - but I've been very happy picking up these ex le Smith and Wessons. I'd say the 6906 is still my favorite though............

Robertson's has several 5906's - great folks to do business with. Free 90 day layaway too. Their price on 5906's seems average. Good luck!

    I love the older S&W bottom feeders. So far I have a 1066, 3904, 908, CS45, 4506 and 559. They all perform very well.

    Congrats on you new purchase!

Dude, you must have an understanding wife. Mine, on the other hand, is less than understanding, especially when I told her how much the Performance Center 945 was going to cost her once I find the right one.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I've used one as a car gun as long as I've had a car. One of the few DAO guns with a better trigger then the SA/DA model, mags are dirt cheap if you know where to look, rock solid reliability and accuracy.

A superb piece for a gun with almost no positive attributes

I think you are asking where I bought mine? I got it from Robertson trading post. You can check out their auctions on gunbroker or gunsamerica. Here's one example - they have quite a few. Good luck! Tx.
