Heh. While on the subject of accuracy, scopes, and the like, here's 5 rounds I shot out of the 30-30 I picked up when I bought the Henry...

I just wanted to be sure it functioned OK because I'm selling it to fund something that will be put to better use. It will be going to a good home and hopefully putting some meat in the freezer.

I don't know what distance most people shoot 22s at, but 25 yds seems silly, and 100 yds a bit much for the first shots out of a new gun,
so I set up some targets at the 50 yd backstop.

Didn't have much time so I only put about 50 rds through it.
    Ammo used was Winchester bulk.

I first shot it standing, while resting my support arm against a post.

I figured out on the next target after the first few shots that the hits were about 1.5" low.
When I changed my point of aim from the center of the circle to the top edge, the hits started landing in the middle.

Seated - no rest - just resting my elbow on the table...

Then I tried shooting offhand, standing, using no support...
(if the photo displays upside down, that's thanks to Photobucket's crappy editor that shows the image correctly in Photobucket,
but then displays it incorrectly when posted here)

The little Henry functioned just fine. The lever throw seemed nice. I forgot to really concentrate on how the trigger felt though.
I couldn't recall exactly how many rounds it would hold. I loaded between 12 and 13 each time.
Looking at the website now, I see that "12" is the capacity (for .22LR). Good to know.

While this range trip was a short one, I left with only one regret - not having purchased one of these inexpensive "cowboy plinkers" years ago!

Looks like it shoots pretty nice! That range also looks not too shabby..

    Thanks.

    PMSC rifle range.
    50 yd, 100 yd, 200 yd, & 300 yd lanes.

Here's the "pistol" range next to it. (these are just two of many shooting bays)

Gonna have to see how fast I can work that lever against the steel one day!

Funny, looking at the box of ammo and seeing the writing on the side, I realize that I haven't seen .22LR at Wmart since January 2013 when I bought that.

I always write the store, date, and price paid on my ammo.
Got some older stuff that will make you choke when you see how much less it cost a few years back.

Again with the gravel. Man look at those scratches you put into it.

Nice gun. Did you try flipping it yet?

I picked up a rossi ranch hand with the big loop. I started to try flipping it but as soon as I started I realized it was not going to work.

You talk about scratches and proceed to ask if I've tried doing something that could potentially launch it through the air...

    LOL. No I haven't.

I was just rummaging around looking for "gun things" I can sell to help pay the bills when I took the Henry out and looked at it, wondering what I could get for it.

Then I worked that silky-smooth action, put the thought out of my head, and gently placed the Henry back in the safe.

Things are bad, but this little carbine is sweet. I'm gonna try and hang onto it if I can.

If you don't have one, I think you should consider trying one out.

My local Gun shop have one.
Your right. it does have butter smooth action(and its brand new!). I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy it for my kid - as soon as I pay off Marlin 336Y in layaway.
But I want Henry Big boy 44mag carbine first...

Something about those lever guns! I'm hooked!

By the way, I was told that there is special place in hell for people putting scope on classic lever gun...
