    Default 80% receivers

Was looking into these and I am wondering.......what does it take to make this a full 100% receiver?

    Anyone know?

Depends on the receiver. Some require bending, drilling, or full Mill/lathe work.

I heard about these and a lot of people buying them because there is no serial number and they won't be needing an ffl.

Will require quite a bit of milling and drilling... If you have the equipment and the knowledge to do so they are a great route to take.

IMO you are better off buying a raw unanodized 80% lower. After the machining is done send it off to for hardcoat anodizing. This way the pockets and more importantly the holes that were drilled will be anodized to prevent wear. Also the anodizing can be damaged some during machining.

Of course, 80% polymer lowers are much easier to make 100%. Check out this site:

If you cannot do the finish machine work on the 80% lower yourself, buy a finished lower.

I agree with dfk. I'm not positive but i beleave it is illegal to have someone finish a 80% receiver for you. you may want to confirm the legality of the process before you proceed. just my opion Im not the law and i don't claim to know all about anything.

Correct. Doing so would be manufacturing a firearm. If YOU manufacturer a firearm for yourself, that is legal. But to manufacturer firearms for other people it would constitute a business, thus requiring a manufacturer's FFL - and pay the tax on the manufactured firearm, and register with ITAR.
