eBay Gouging
Mrs.K has a S&W Shield 9mm. The mags list on S&W's site for $37.95 each. I haven't tried to buy any lately, but back in the spring nobody had them. I managed to snag 4 (from 3 different vendors) at the Oaks gun show for under $160 total, so she can at least load up almost a whole box before heading to the range.
I keep an eye on mag prices on eBay for the Shield and my 1911 in case some super-terrific prices come up, though we are well enough equipped for now. Last week I saw a listing for one (1) 8-round mag for the Shield with a Buy-it-Now price of $100. As a courtesy I dropped the seller a message to let him know he was selling at more than 2½ times MSRP and I hadn't really seen any go for nearly that much, so he might want to bring his price down to make the sale instead of hoping for a windfall. He replied that he had sold OVER FIFTY at this price.
OMFG!!! At $64 profit (less postage) *per mag*, I might consider becoming part of the problem and buying up a bunch just to sell them.

Re: eBay Gouging
The M&P9 17rd mags have been going for $80 at places, double MSRP.
Supply and Demand, my friend, and it would seemm demand is uber high for S&W stuff these days.

Re: eBay Gouging
I just bought two at the show in Warminster for $35 each. Don't believe eBay sellers as the ones using it regulaly make me want to count my virtual fingers if I dare shake their (virtual) hands.
eBay jumped the shark five years ago.

Re: eBay Gouging
The most very basic question and answer for any economy.
Q: How much do you sell any product for?
A: Whatever amount someone will pay for it!
Simple free market system.

Re: eBay Gouging
Hmmm... I haven't actually looked at the rules as I have not been selling anything lately, but I did see an auction for a 10-round 1911 mag that showed a 15-round in the photo. The '5' on the card backer was disfigured, so I thought it might be an honest mistake on the part of the seller - I may have changed my mind a bit.
