Beaver stadium searches/detectors
Has anyone been to a football game at Penn State's Beaver Stadium?
I'm going this Saturday(9-21) and would like to know how they search or if they use metal detectors.
I'm looking for Fall 2013 information if available. With great power comes great responsibility....

Re: Beaver stadium searches/detectors
Little late for your 9/21 but they do not search. Just no bag policy as far as I know. Been there both as a student and spectator and have never been searched.

OK, so I'm answering my own question here.
No detectors or pat downs.
Makeup and lipstick was contraband of the day if not in a plastic bag.
Everything else gets thru....
Interestingly, at the gate, there was a sign listing what you can't bring in. Nothing about guns or knives. There was even a pre-recorded message being broadcast that didn't mention guns or knives....With great power comes great responsibility....

Re: Beaver stadium searches/detectors
I am not doubting it but is there a reference as to the prohibiting on University property... Penn State is a big place and I wouldn't want to be breaking one of their rules.

Re: Beaver stadium searches/detectors
There is no law against carrying on University property. They can restrict students per their "policy", which means the kid can be kicked out of the school. Anyone else would be asked to leave.
Both my kids went to Main Campus and I've been there many, many, many times including watching PSU football games.
The university does not fall under the definition of "school".
912. Possession of weapon on school property.
(a) DEFINITION. — Notwithstanding the definition of “weapon” in section 907 (relating to possessing instruments of crime), “weapon” for purposes of this section shall include but not be limited to any knife, cutting instrument, cutting tool, nun-chuck stick, firearm, shotgun, rifle and any other tool, instrument or implement capable of inflicting serious bodily injury.
(b) OFFENSE DEFINED. — A person commits a misdemeanor of the first degree if he possesses a weapon in the buildings of, on the grounds of, or in any conveyance providing transportation to or from any elementary or secondary publicly-funded educational institution, any elementary or secondary private school licensed by the Department of Education or any elementary or secondary parochial school.
(c) DEFENSE. — It shall be a defense that the weapon is possessed and used in conjunction with a lawful supervised school activity or course or is possessed for other lawful purpose.
