They are different, but I would contest your "should be." I believe it is unfortunate poor grammar and spelling have become acceptable anywhere...even internet forums like this one.

The grammatical errors were in jest. It's difficult at times to be sarcastic with out all the little icons. Sorry I ruined you day. See even I can write for That rag... Some people........

Not only is the credibility of the paper in question but also the individual that wrote the article. With all of the fetishes in the world, this one doesn't even rate any researchable information on the web.

As a side note - Apparently "hoplon" means weapon or armor in Greek. So I'd be guessing a paraphilia for firearms or weapons would be a hoplophile.

Back to the letter to the editor. According to the letter writer, this only affects men. I guess I need a new pick up line since "wanna see my gun?" won't be properly interpreted by women. Since there is so little info available I wonder where he got his "facts". I am sure he researched this. Maybe it is written from personal experience.

I clicked on a few links after googling this. One of them (hoplophilia.blogspot.com) came up as blocked by my .gov computer under the flag of "RESTRICTED DOMAIN/DATING/PERSONAL" hehehe, I'd love to someday see the electronic footprint I have created. Yeah, I know, these are your tax dollars at work.

The most bizarre thing about this is that the "Reading Eagle" actually found this to be an appropriate letter to print, out of the hundreds they must get on a weekly basis.
