Default New Jersey stats vs. Pennsylvania stats

Okay, number crunchers, here's the challenge: Shown below are the New Jersey stats, copied from a recent Wall Street Journal article (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...662940732.html)

Present for us a comparable chart for Pennsylvania.

The chart for NJCCW seems at great odds with the 2012 GAO report.

According to GAO, the number of active CCWs in NJ on 12/31/2011 was 32,000.

Since NJ CCWs are 2 year documents then the total number of active licenses, according to the WSJ chart, is the sum of 2010 and 2011 - about 1,300.

    Doesn't compute.

As far as comparable charts showing Pa, you'll find the following:

    Handgun Transfers (2003-12) [graphic]
    Long-gun Transfers (2003-12) [graphic]
    LTCFs issued (2003-12) [graphic]

I can't find a link now, but I remember when that came out the GAO included armed security guards in the NJ permit numbers. Resulting in the hugely inflated numbers in the report.

This is true, most pro gun activist don't include armed security guards or other jobs that require you carry because that's a restricted license that only allows you to carry on the job, also most pro gunners don't include retired leos, when you deduct all of the above you get about 300 actual permits to carry, the attorney general of nj used the high number in court to defend "justifiable need" saying it didn't infringe on the 2nd because nj had such high numbers with a 98% approval rating in the application

    What a joke
