full auto/suppressor
Hello quick question I am looking at a 9mm Mac with a suppressor...do I need a $200 stamp for both the suppressor and the full auto or just one for both?

Two $200.00 Stamps. It's two NFA items you're looking there.
one for the machinegun, one for the Silencer.Wouldn't you like to know what's in my safe.

If the suppressor is welded to the gun, is it just one stamp?

Re: full auto/suppressor
(2) stamps for that. One for the machine gun, one for the suppressor.
When it comes to SBR's and SBS's that have integral suppressors - if the overall length of the firearm when the suppressor is permanently fixed to the gun exceeds the lengths of the NFA barrel/OAL measurements for SBS/SBR's, then only (1) stamp is required. Although, to be in possession of the SBR/SBS to make it into a Title I length firearm by attaching the suppressor requires a stamp. ...it is kind of a catch 22. A manufacturer could make what is otherwise a SBR without the Suppressor, then permanently fix it to the gun to increase the barrel length, which then would only require 1 stamp. ...but for you to do it it may require 2 stamps in the process or things.
MG's, DD's, and Suppressors are taxed because of what they are. SBS's, SBR's, and most AOW's are taxed because of dimensions of their barrel lengths or overall sizes.
Some guns require (3) stamps. One for the machinegun, one for the suppressor, and one for SBR because if you remove the suppressor and the auto sear it becomes a SBR.Last edited by knight0334; September 2nd, 2013 at 12:09 AM.

From my experience a short barrel machine gun is just one stamp. When you register a machine gun, the barrel length is not an issue.
I helped a friend purchase a H&K MP5 and it only took one stamp.

Re: full auto/suppressor
Correct, there is no such thing as a short barrel machine gun.
Now, some guys that have a registered bolt/sear/DIAS/ etc machine gun might register the host as a SBR, in case they remove the bolt/sear/DIAS and the host has a short barrel that is not easily removable.
With this setup or option, the short barrel MUST be removed before the register part is removed.

This may be trivia to most, but to avoid confusion if somebody tells you different...
There was a time when ATF put some MGs with silencers on a single stamp. Those days are over.
So, now, if somebody says, "Yes you can," you know the answer is, "Those days are over."

Yes, machineguns can be any length of barrel so long as you do not make a semi-auto gun out of it by modifying it or replacing registered auto-sear with a semi-auto sear when it is within SBR dimensions.
If the gun is made into semi-auto with a barrel less than 16" or an OAL less than 26", it becomes a SBR - then you would have illegally manufactured an SBR if the gun wasn't also registered as a SBR prior.
Example: You buy and legally register an auto-sear for an AR15. You then shorten the barrel to below 16". But you then move that auto-sear to another gun without first putting a 16" barrel back on the gun - you just violated the NFA.
That is why some of the smarter people are also registering their MG's as SBR's.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515
