    Default Kimber...

So friend of my wife wanted to shoot guns several months back(end of March or early April). she wanted something for home defense.

So I let her tried all my guns - from .22 to 12ga, and everything in between.
And told her what caliber is what and so on. We talk about type of weapon, and pro and cons and so on. We spent 6 hours at the range, went through almost 500rounds of various caliber and we had a great time.

Fast-forward to yesterday. She went out to local gunshop in JersyShore, and came home with fine weapon as her first gun

So I just got the text that the she took it out to shoot it, and after shooting about 25 rounds, front sight came off and was gone. And she wasn't able to find it, thus ended her day effectively.

So makes me feel bad for her.
$1250 gun should not be doing this.
Makes it difficult to recommend Kimber again to anyone as far as Im concerned...

That's kinda rough for a first experience, but I'm sure when she contacts Kimber they will take care of it without question. Make sure you give the follow up details!

Please do if you can. I'm curious to hear how this works out too. I own a few K's, never had any problems...

+1, except I own just one Kimber.

After a couple range trips I noticed mine was pretty consistently shooting a hair low and to the left at 25 yds, even sand bagged.

I could have adjusted the sights myself, or even had a local smith do it, but I told them I would appreciate them double-checking everything at the factory. And they did. Had it back to me in about 10 days including ship time both ways. They even included a couple targets they had used to show the groups after the changes they made. Nothing wrong, so just a free sight adjustment, and now it shoots point of aim.

I've had it for 2 years now, it's me EDC gun, and has fed, shot, extracted and ejected everything I've run through it, from FMJ to a dozen different hollow points to lead semi wadcutter hand loads, all without one single failure. Hopefully she will get this taken care of and then be as happy with hers as I am with mine.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Not the first time this has happened with a Kimber 1911. I'm sure Kimber will use their dime to ship both ways and get a new one reglued. She should also ask for a sight in after it's reattached.

Wow! I hope everything works out well for her. I recently got a Kimber Pro-II in stainless, have not been able to shoot as much as I would like, but I have about 500 rounds through it without a hiccup. Still in "break in" but no failures of any kind (just ball ammo so far). I really hope Kimber takes care of her.

Kimber's QC dropped dramatically a few years ago.

I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Kimber quality has gone in the crapper for the last couple of years. Not worth the money they ask for them.
