Default Need help from m1 carbine experts, please

so gentlemen my question is if this is worth paying $750-$800. We can't have cool stuff like this in NJ so my cousin is buying this M1 winchester carbine serial # 1,318,xxx from his neighbor in Pa. and it has these markings on it. No mags, no pitting or rust, little dings on the stock, bluing is still very present and it has a cloth green sling, thats all the info I know. Last but not least, he was told that it hasn't seen the light of day since 1982.

Please any info would help. What should I look for if I get to see it by this weekend.

From the limited information visible in the pictures, it looks like a very nice Winnie with many Winchester parts, though not all necessarily correct for the S/N range. At any rate, check for an import mark on the barrel. If it's not an import, it's probably worth a good bit more than the range you mention. If it is an import, it's still a fair price.

    I'd say pay the money.

I saw this first on the cmp forums. I hope your cousin bought it!

I'd pay 750 for it if that's all legit.

Sorry, my brother, I've already been offered over double that and still am hanging on to it. Yes, it's all legit. It belonged to an uncle who was a USMC radioman in the Pacific.

Then I wouldn't sell it unless I was destitute or to protect it (divorce, legal problem). I love mine and it does not a story like that. Sounds lovely.
