    Default latrobe SWAT standoff

    http://m.wtae.com/news/swat-moves-in...z/-/index.html
I can't believe they shut off the power to the whole block if he's barricaded in up stairs bedroom why couldn't someone just pull The meter Off the house? What's next an air strike? Does anyone else see this as excessive? To me its just another example of the militarization of law enforcement.

Cutting power to an entire block in this heat? I hope there aren't any old people there that need the AC, or people that need machines to help them breathe. Is the PD going to pay for all the spoiled food from fridges that are shut off?

The power company has the ability to turn off your power alone if you don't pay your bill, but if someone is barricading themselves in their 2nd floor we have to kill off an entire block. Anyone care to explain the logic here? Sounds like the Latrobe PD is trying to open itself up to a few lawsuits if anyone gets hurt or dies from this heat....

The only way the power can be shut off to a specific house is to pull the meter and I imagine the lineman doesn't want to get shot by the guy in the house.

Folks on "in house" life support can get some electric from a fire engine. My company has done this for a local resident during major power outages.

As for replacing spoiled food . . .GOOD LUCK. The popo is seldom responsible for a kicked in door on the wrong house let alone food from turning off the electric.

If I'm a holed-up druggy in a stand-off with police, why do I care if the power is off? I don't want the lights on any way and a little extra sweat from the AC being off isn't going to bother me.

Just tell me which wire to shoot and I'll do it from the safety of 100 yard distance. And Im definitely not the best marksman in PA.
