I was working about 200yds from this, there was a state po;ice helicopter over head most of the morning. I went to the store about 11:50 to get something to drink so I didn't here the gun shots. It was still pretty crazy.

The only way the power can be shut off to a specific house is to pull the meter and I imagine the lineman doesn't want to get shot by the guy in the house.

Actually, you could also cut (or otherwise disconnect) the wires that feed the meter, at the transformer. If you cut one at a time they don't go boom.

I'm not saying this was necessarily feasible in the given situation, I'm just saying...
