    Default Remington 721

My dad recently gave me my grandfather's Remington 721, with a date code on the barrel of LTT (pretty sure it is LTT and that makes it Feb 1948 manufacture from what I can find), and on the other side of the barrel there is REP inside of an oval and a 3 leaf clover (club symbol from playing cards) and what appears to be a rectangle with a line in the middle, sort of like a domino with no dots.

Now, I can find these makings, and Remington Model 721 clearly stamped on the receiver, but I can't find a s/n anywhere.

Anyone have any idea where that may be located? will I need to remove from the stock to locate it?

I actually found the s/n this morning, inside the receiver. 26xxx, making it aprox 15000th one of the 721's produced.

The 721 was the long action (30-06,270, 300H&H). The 722 was the short action (222, 222 mag, 243, 244,308, 300 Savage). Both were finished about the same. Both came in ADL, BDL, and custom........
You don't have enough guns untill you don't know how many you have.

This one is chambered in 30-06, and it's still a very good shooter. The bore is in good shape, as is the chamber and bolt. I wish the stock was in better shape, but it is 65 years old. There is also some surface rust on the barrel and receiver but I'm working on getting that taken care of now. I really wish my dad had taken better care of this rifle.
