Do 3rd Party Trigger Jobs Void Manufacturers Warranty?
Smith & Wesson and some other manufacturers provide a lifetime warranty on their pistols.
If I have trigger work done by some party other than the original manufacturer (say by Bowie or Burwell), will this void my warranty?
Has anyone had personal experience with warranty claim after a trigger job?I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

I can't speak for a trigger job, but I saw an XD Kaboom after a bad reload and Smith and Wesson made it good for the cost of shipping............
You can't beat that kind of service.

Re: Do 3rd Party Trigger Jobs Void Manufacturers Warranty?
Just a note from my Sig Sauer Owners Manual, Page 17.:
"SIGARMS INC. Cannot be responsible for the functioning of any firearm which has been altered from factory specifications". I believe you will find in your
pistol/revolver/rifle/shotgun owners manual almost the same wording. It can
be claimed by the manufacture that the parts, work, were not within there
specifications, therefore the warranty goes out the window.FUNDAMENTALS

True......they do not have to honor the warranty.......
But in my experience, many do anyhow.

Re: Do 3rd Party Trigger Jobs Void Manufacturers Warranty?
In my experience, it tends to be a common sense thing. If they're at fault, they'll make it right.
If your slide cracked, it doesn't matter that you had the trigger worked on.
If you had a trigger job, and now the gun won't fire properly...don't expect the manufacturer to pickup the tab.
Basically if a gunsmith altered a gun from stock, and now BECAUSE of that modification you have an issue...you should be working it out with the gunsmith, not the manufacturer.
I kept a set of stock trigger parts, and a set of modified trigger parts. If the gun needed to go back for service, the stock parts could go back in...and they'd be none the wiser.

Re: Do 3rd Party Trigger Jobs Void Manufacturers Warranty?
Chatting with a rep from a certain 1911 manufacturer....you can probably guess who.
When I talked with my S&W rep about a trigger job I wasn't happy with on my M&P...they GAVE me a set of stock parts to drop in it.
A lot of companies MAY stand behind most anything...I just wouldn't expect it all the time.
I don't know of any company worth owning a gun from, that won't fix a problem unrelated to any work you may have had performed, though.
