    Default Self-Defence Ammo Sources?

I do my best to plan and make sure I have enough SD ammo around to account for testing new guns as well as to account for practice and needing to rotate out ammo after I have been carrying it too long.

I've been keeping an eye open online over the past few months, but with the recent debacle and its effect on ammo prices and availability, I didn't buy anything when it was available. My supply level for both 9mm and 45 ACP SD ammo is nearing the bottom of my comfort level.

That said I wanted to see where you guys are sourcing your SD ammo from just to see if I there is a source I am not aware of. Typically I'll by 500 rounds of each at a time.

    sgammo.com

Their inventory changes a lot from day to day right now and tends to go quick however they are a top notch company to deal with.

Have a browse on gunbot.net as there are tons of choices out there.

Sg ammo, lucky gunner, bulk ammo and other sellers have a large selection but they jacked their prices way up to keep things in stock.

The best luck I have had for pricing on the kind of ammo you are looking for is Cabelas, Sportsman's Guide and Midway USA. Unammo I believe has some SD ammo in stock in bulk lots right now.

Here is a copy and paste of my last reply to almost the exact same question:

I just got an order from Rocky Mountain last Wednesday, 1000 9mm, there is about a 2 week delay in shipping, but right after 2 weeks they arrived. The ones I ordered:

1000 count 9mm 115 grain Plated round nose bullets. Price: $90.00

if these are to light get theses
1000 count 9mm 124 grain Plated round nose bullets. Price: $95.00

If I recall there were no shipping charges.

    Thanks for the replies guys!

Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to start reloading right now so I am going to stick with factory ammo for CD rounds.

SD ammo is something I would always buy and never load myself. I get mine from the small local gun shops. They usually seem to have a reliable supply, even in the recent shortages you can find it if you're persistent enough. I don't shoot a lot of SD-grade ammo though so I'm not often looking for it.
