Sometimes they get mad if I pay with a hundred. When buying $65 dollars in gas.

tell them - in the ratio of cost/tender/change, is it any different than giving a dollar for a 65 cent can of soda?

Offer to pay them with only a $50

Seriously though, it's cause is has a tendency to eat up their change, and a lot of those places have drop safes....so your 35 bucks may take most of their change.....

credit/debit cards on the pumps solve that problem.

I can't remember the last time I actually went in to give cash to fill up. While I understand they make little money on the fuel as it is, and the card merchant cost isn't helping, the convenience to me just outweighs it basically.

They can't add and subtract, they type and read numbers. You think abstract concepts such as relative ratios are going to get me anywhere? I've tried, it don't.

Solves who's problem? I have no problem, and I'm not getting paid to be there!
