    Default Clairton Action Rifle Shoot

Could anyone provide any information on what this shoot is?

Not to be too much of a smart ass, but....

If this is Clairton near Pittsburgh? I believe there is "action shooting" every Friday and Saturday night!!

On a serious note: I can't help you and for that I apologize.
If gun control worked, Chicago would be like Mayberry, instead of Thunderdome.

Flip of a coin.... both are rough areas, as I'm sure you know.

Not to derail: but do you like Wilkinsburg?

I have not attended one, but speaking to the guy that runs it I believe its a pretty loose "run what ya brung" affair where score is not really kept, a variety of exercises are set up, and shooting is to be had.

If your not really looking for competition, but just want to get out and shoot in something a little more involved than it might be a good fit.

If you check it out let us know.

(Minuses) It was not a competition at all, as there was no timing, no score, and the targets were not always pasted. The round counts were very low (9, 8, 10, 10, and 14).

However, the stages were really well set up and a lot of fun to shoot. There were several moving targets, shots through a truck window from the cabin, tannerite targets, simulated door breaching, and food afterwards.

There were rifle, shotgun, and pistol stages (although I and several other people used handguns on the one shotgun stage). They said pistol caliber carbines, and 22s could be used where the targets allowed. The longest shot was 100 yds, and about 2-3 MOA.

All and all I had a great time, and will be back. I'll probably be guns that don't fit in a more convectional match.

I live in the Regent Square part and its nice. The other side of the tracks is rough looking and partially abandoned (20-30% of homes), but my impression is it is more or less pretty quiet.

With easy access to the parkway, Frick park, and the East Busway the area has a lot going for it. If the economy really picked up in PGH again, it might turn back into the town it once was (with some aggressive uses of eminent domain and sheriff sales to rid the area of abandoned property). The millage rates combined with the low assessed values (v. actual values) would definitely make us think twice about buying. The schools are movie level bad. I think the best long term plan I have heard is to wait for the student population to shrink more, and then close the schools. Already there is a scholarship program were students can get vouchers for another school.
