    Default Straw purchace?

I am in charge of getting my 14yr. old nephew his first rifle! Can I purchace it in my name and give it to him, or do his parrents need to sign for it? All involved are PA rsidents. Thanks.

You should be able to give it to him - in care of his parents.

Gifts are not straw purchases. Providing a gift is exactly that, a gift.

How about me taking a gift from my uncle. we were talking the other day and he as a weatherby rifle he will give me. I know there are some rules for father son and I could not find these details. Does he have to transfer the rifle to me with an FFL. Similar to the OP but I am not a minor.

There is no transfer required for long guns within PA. Related, not related, makes no diff. The parent/grandparent/children/grandchildren exception applies to handgun transfers.

I did just this for my Niece. Even told the dealer what I was doing, they didn't have any issue with it. Of course she's a little young for it, got it one week before she was born. A Davy Cricket with the pink laminate stock. When she's old enough to shoot it, I'll be taking her shooting with it. Of course it will be living at my house until she's old enough, which is probably many years away, she's about 6mos now.

I do have a picture of her with the rifle at about a week old.

Buy it, tie a bow on it and give it to him. Of course you will have to make sure it operates properly before letting him fire it.

Take him to the range and go over the safety rules with him and then let him enjoy it

Default Even if it was a pistol..

You could always technically transfer it to your brother (neice/nephew's father) who could then transfer it to their children (well if they're of age to own).
