Re: Turned away from Targetmaster for flip flops.
It's not the flip flops that bother me. It's the man feet. Put on some damn shoes! Lol just kidding, I don't see it as a big deal either way. They have their rules and you can shoot elsewhere. The sock suggestion is just weird. I don't understand why they bothered suggesting socks.

Re: Turned away from Targetmaster for flip flops.
Thanks. I'm a member at LPRGC though
Is that the place on Egypt Rd.? I rode back there on the Wing a few weeks ago to look around. I asked someone about membership information, and the guy told me just inside the door should be some stuff.
There wasn't anything in there pertaining to becoming a member.

Yep, that's the place. I think their website is probably the best resource for membership info: http://www.lprgc.org/. You save some money ($50 I think) on the initiation fee by signing up at a gun show. It's a nice facility. I'm have a guest pass if you want to check it out some time, I could meet you there and show you around in a few weeks. I've got a lot of family from out of town here right now, but they should all be gone by the 15th. I'm usually free after hours, but I could get out for an hour or so on a weekend to show you around during daylight so you can see the different ranges.

Re: Turned away from Targetmaster for flip flops.
Just speculating here but I've had hot brass hit me in various body parts. I could see an inexperienced shooter losing track of his muzzle while doing the 'hot brass jig'. Socks would give just enough protection to minimize the burn and the resulting wild antics.
Sometimes, us experienced folks have to deal with the rules designed to protect the young and or stupid.
Like I said, just speculating, never been there and probably never will.

Re: Turned away from Targetmaster for flip flops.
Had a laugh reading this, about a year or so ago my wife and I dropped a load of stuff at Goodwill. then went to Targetmaster.
We were told my wifes flipflops were no go, so we went back to goodwill and got the too small sneakers we just dropped off back, she put them on and we shot, then brought the sneaks back to GW.NRA for life.

Re: Turned away from Targetmaster for flip flops.
These rules seem reasonable to me. Yes flip flops can be comfortable, but I wouldn't wear them on a gun range. When I used to own a horse, I'd see riders in flip flops & it always ticked me off 'cause they weren't wearing proper attire. I'm being practical here: in order to shoot safely, proper attire is very important, including shoes. Most times I wear my moccasins 'cause they come up over my ankles & afford better protection against hot brass.
