Question AR 15; light and mount

OK, a bud and I are locked in for a Defenseive Urban Rifle course at the end of August. In fact we'll be doing that in or around Leesburg, VA!

DTI conducts the course and I've had the good fortune to attend two DTI courses in the past 10 years, Defensive Handgun, and it was great. John Farnam is the guru and I've enjoyed his books as well as his actual tutoring.

I have a Colt HBAR Sporter .223 / 5.56 and it's stock other than a Lake City Trigger and an extended finger extension. Also I put the Bob Jones rear sight set-up on the rifle, but I've done away with the diopter. OK, I do not have a light mounted or a mount for the light.

Nope, no Picy rail, military handle type. Suggestions on the light and mount for the light?

    Thanks in advance,
    Sgt Steve

These are made for the standard military style handguards. They hold a standard flashlight.

Don't know what you want to spend. I plan on going with the mount in the link but for my Magpul hand guard along a with a Streamlight Protac HL.

Elzetta mount, either with one of their flashlights, or in my case a Surefire Fury with 500 lumens.

Might want to give these options a look.

Rail attachment for stock AR forearm:

GG&G Under Forearm Integrated Rail (UFIR)

    http://www.gggaz.com/ar-15-m16-under...rail-ufir.html

This rail attachment mounts into place via a locking cam system without the need to remove the forearm assembly. Once locked in it's rock solid!

    Weapon light:

Streamlight TLR-1 (white light only) or TLR-2 (white light w/red aiming laser)

    http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=81

I have both the TLR-1 & TLR-2. They both light up a dark space like the sun. The aiming laser on the TLR-2 is quite bright (in low light) and holds POA/POI without any issues on my AR (just did an instructor course at 900+ rnds!).

I prefer to travel & fight light, so the only other "attachments" on my AR are a Trijicon ACOG Reflex red dot, a GG&G BUIS and a GG&G forward sling mount with a Viking Tactical sling.

Like the ggazz stuff. Stopped at the indoor range the other evening and them have the 4" pic rail attachement that goes right under my current old style hand guard.

My HBAR is one of the Colt "Large Pin" variety and is a 1990s type. No bayo lug.

    Elzetta mount +100

Equip it with streamlite ProTac HL. 600 lumens of light with 276 yards of beam distance.

Two ways to mount off the FSB.

Midwest Industries Tactical Light Mount + Vltor Scout Mount + Your favorite 1" diameter flashlight.

    or

BattleComp Mossie Midnight Mount + Your favorite pistol style light.

I'm going with one of these two options when I finally add a light to my AR.

I think the mossie mount is a good way to go for your set up without dropping coin on putting on a rail or anything. Plus you can either use a pistol light you might already own or take it off and use it on a pistol if you choose to in the future.

The Surefire X300 or Streamlight TLR-1 are plenty bright.
