So I inhareted a weatherby mark V in 300 win magnum. Is it a good gun and well is it worth anything? Should I keep it or what?

Is it .300 Winchester magnum or is it .300 Weatherby mag? They're different cartridges. It's a good rifle either way.

It's a very good rifle, and yes...it is worth something. The cartridges are expensive, though, and it packs a pretty good punch. The percussion is substantial and it is loud as fuck. I'd keep it unless you want to trade on something you'd rather have...if it's in nice condition, that is. If you use it on smaller game, it will tear up a lot of meat, and I'm not talking about rabbits, which it will utterly destroy.

It says 300 win mag on the barrel and its brand new never shot. And what would be a good trade for it?

Off hand, I'd say it's probably worth around a grand. I'm sure someone more qualified than me will be along with a more precise figure.

I'm a handgun guy, not rifle. That appears to be what they're going for online. I have a .300 Weatherby Mag Lazermark myself.

Weatherby makes the Mark V in 300 Win mag. What exact model is it?

It being 300 Win mag will save you a few bucks for a box of 20 rounds of good ammo verses the 300 Weatherby mag ammo. The 300 Win mag doesn't have quite the performance of the Weatherby round, but it isn't by much. Both will take anything the US has to offer, game wise.

You should take it to someone and let them look at it. Some of the Mark V models that shoots the 300 Win mag round go for over two grand, new. You might have something there.
