burning of the Wrightsville Bridge
Just a quick reminder for the locals, tonite is the 150th anniversary of the burning of the Wrightsville bridge during the Civil War. It runs from 7-10pm.

York, PA -The 150th anniversary of the burning of the mile-long covered bridge that spanned the Susquehanna River between Columbia and Wrightsville will be commemorated Friday night.
Flames Across the Susquehanna, created by Rivertownes PA USA, is set for 7 to 10 p.m., by the John Wright Restaurant on North Front Street in Wrightsville.
The event will feature ceremonial fires atop the 25 piers that once supported the span.According to the organization: "The destruction of the bridge thwarted the eastward movement of Confederate soldiers bent on marching into Lancaster County and routed them westward towards Gettysburg."
Prior to the ceremony at dusk, the Susquehanna Travelers, a troupe of Civil War musicians, will entertain on the grounds overlooking the piers.
Lighting of the piers will begin at 9:30 p.m., with fireworks at 10 p.m.
A donation of $2 per adult will be accepted.
The rain date is Saturday.
