Default Kahr Arms moving to Pike County

LORDS VALLEY — Kahr Firearms Group (KFG) of Pearl River N.Y. is planning to purchase the Pike County Business Park, move their corporate offices there and open a new manufacturing site.

On Monday, the Blooming Grove Township Board of Supervisors approved minor revisions to the covenants and restrictions for the industrial park that has been on the market for over 10 years.

KFG is planning to purchase the 620-acre business park, but will use only approximately 146 acres to erect a 40,000-square-foot building as the first phase of the project for their corporate offices. Once they are in operation, the firm could bring 20 to 30 jobs to the area with potentially more jobs as they expand their facility.

According to a press release, the first step in the multi-phased plan would be site preparation and office construction late this year. This will be followed by the relocation of company corporate offices and the research and development department. In the second phase, manufacturing operations will be expanded to the business park to meet the increasing demand for its product line of Kahr Arms, Thompson, Auto-Ordinance and Magnum.

Solicitor for the prospective buyer John Stieh told the supervisors during the public hearing that they would only be using 12 of the 21 lots already subdivided and approved by the township when the project was first designed by Pike County Industrial Park Development Group.

There will be no changes to the 150-foot setback requirements, which had been a concern for Camelot Forest residents. Stieh requested that a possible retail outlet store, convenience store, public storage, explosives, and nursery be considered as permitted uses. The supervisors did not oppose the changes to the deeds’ covenants and restrictions and told the attendees that each use would still require a separate conditional use hearing, which would allow for public comments in addition to enabling the supervisors to set restrictions.

One resident was concerned about the word explosives. Stieh explained that it was a request to permit rifle and gun testing in an underground facility and would not encompass dynamite but rather the firing of ammunition to test the firearms for quality controls...
