Can landlord ask if I carry?
I may move to PA soon and rent a house. NOT in Philly. Do you think I will
be asked if I carry? And if so, maybe not rent to me?

Re: Can landlord ask if I carry?
Unless you give him reason to ask, I can't see any reason why it would come p. make sure to look your lease over carefully before signing it so you don't get stuck in a bad position with regards to your firearms. As far as renting to you is concerned, While I'm not a lawyer, I THINK he can choose not to rent to you if he/she knows you have or carry firearms. But if it were me, I wouldn't give them a reason to ask and I'm not bringing it up.

Re: Can landlord ask if I carry?
Sure he can ask, but you don't have to answer. I doubt that the question will come up.
I believe a landlord can refuse to rent to you for any reason except for bigotry regarding protected classes (firearms owners are not a protected class).
The advice to read your lease carefully to avoid problems is sound, and not just in regards to firearms.

"Are you kidding, I'm from the Socialist Republic of New York; we are not allowed to even own guns according to king Cuomo & prince Bloomburg" is the correct answer if asked!

I think in the free state of PA, it is required for you to carry in you want to live here. He may not rent to you if you don't. Who's going to protect his property?

Re: Can landlord ask if I carry?
You are asking this question in the concealed carry section of the forum.
If it's concealed, he will have no reason to bring it up.
From a bad past experience, a question just added to a rental application that I deal with now asks:
BACKGROUND CHECK
Have you ever been arrested for and/or convicted of a crime? If yes, please explain:______________________________

Re: Can landlord ask if I carry?
Any places I rented in Western PA or Eastern Ohio it never came up and firearms where not mentioned in the lease.
I would be very surprised to see it brought up but as always you should read your lease top to bottom before signing it. There may be something in there objectionable to you weather its firearms related or not. I've never turned down an rental so far because of a lease.
If someone asked you to sign the lease without time to review it be weary."No, it's just a machine. I'm the weapon." - Jack Harper in Oblivion

Read the lease. If there's nothing in it about firearms, certainly don't chase him down about it. I have no idea why he would ask if you carry.
