These guys appear to be relatively new... I've done a little searching and haven't turned up much aside from what was put out by the manufacturer. Anyone have any experience with these?

Re: Extar EXP AR Pistol
They are brand new company that uses New Frontier Lowers for a lightweight pistol. I think their first batch came out last month.
here's a review of them

Re: Extar EXP AR Pistol
I never understood why one would want an AR15 pistol without a buffer tube.

Re: Extar EXP AR Pistol
I never understood why anyone would want an AR pistol with a buffer tube. Seems to take away from its compactness without adding anything useful like a stock, but then it would be a SBR and not a pistol anyway.
I don't like that this one does not have an obvious rear sling attachment point. IMHO a this is mandatory as a holster is not practical. You can also use a one point sling to stabilize the firearm by pushing it out from your body against the tension of the sling."No, it's just a machine. I'm the weapon." - Jack Harper in Oblivion

Re: Extar EXP AR Pistol
I'll guess that you never fired one, then.
The buffer tube not only helps with the recoil, but offers an invaluable asset in providing a cheek weld (especially if you're using irons). Firing AR15 pistols without the tube tends to be awkward, at best.
The AR15 (or AR15ish) pistols that I've seen without them (the piston Olympic Arms, the Kel-tec thing, etc) have all been pretty subpar.

Re: Extar EXP AR Pistol
I just got one & I LOVE it.
I was a little leary at first, but after reading many reviews, the consensus was extremely positive. It seems that everyone who has fired one or owns an Extar EXP is very happy.
The EXtar is very hard to find, they cant make them fast enough, as it is almost always on back order. I got one from on Gunbroker.com for $439.
+ $20 shipping to my local gunshop.
I put 60 rounds through it yesterday, and it was great, super light, and very accurate right out of the box. This gun is super fun to shoot.
I highly recommend it .
Perfect for the smaller, or older shooter.

Re: Extar EXP AR Pistol
I have one too and have put 1000+ rounds through it without a problem. I added their folding charging handle and replaced the plastic fcg with a normal metal one (wich is a marked improvement)
