windsor playland park rules issue
Well, its been awhile since I came over to the Windsor playland park (my daughter's getting to old, but we were killing time), and what do I spy with my little eye when I arrive? You guessed it, a rules and regulations sign with a " no firearm's" line. I guess I'll be writing a letter to the Windsor authorities tomorrow. Anybody in the area want to send them an email ?

Re: windsor playland park rules issue
Windsor Township does not have rule, regulation, or ordinance prohibiting carry, that I can find. Maybe it's just the sign itself?
Where is this? I can't even find it on a Google search, and it doesn't seem to be listed on Windsor Township's list of parks and properties. Could it be privately owned? While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Also, can you take a pic or at least say, verbatim, what the sign states? The ordinance for Windsor Parks says:
f. Use of explosives, fireworks, guns, rifles, airguns, bows, slingshots or any similar items is prohibited. While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Do you mean Windsor Wonderland at Freysville Park?

Yes, Windsor wonderland (my apologies) , if the wording is acceptable, I'll take your word for it....the "use" portion of the wording made me think it was a violation...but I will cede to those with greater knowledge and experience in this realm. Thank you C.

Re: windsor playland park rules issue
I know we've talked about here before, the gist of it is that use implies firing, target practice, hunting, etc. "Carry" is not use. I did see a sign up at Rocky Ridge Park that was a clear preemption violation though. I checked the website first (Springettsbury) and found the wording there to be in compliance. Since their "sign" was just a piece of paper on a bulletin board I just called and asked that they update their bulletin board to reflect the current wording of their ordinance. And they did.
If you go back and find a compliance issue I would be happy to look into it.

Re: windsor playland park rules issue
The thing that has always bothered me about rules and ordinances like this one is that their wording is so easily misunderstood, and I can't help but think it is deliberate. They want to ban guns, but can't, so their intentionally word the ordinance (and then the sign) so as to make it look like guns are banned.
I think it is weaselly, underhanded, and dishonest, and I find no honor in it. I don't think they care. It may have something to do with the reason P.J. O'Rourke called others of their ilk "A Parliament Of Whores".While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

That type of ordinance requires that both you and the person that is assaulting you step outside the park while you defend yourself with your firearm.
