Bethlehem police to investigate photo of crossing guard with possible firearm

Bethlehem police plan to investigate a photograph that appears to show a school crossing guard openly wearing a firearm while on duty.

Chief Jason Schiffer said in an email that officials would not comment before determining whether the photo really shows a guard with a gun in a holster.

Assuming the guy has an LTCF, what's to investigate?

That's all there is to investigate, whether he has a LTCF. And since he's employed by the municipality, I would hope preemption should protect him when he's inevitably fired.

I guess theoretically they could look up if he has a LTCF if they know his name, but I don't know that they could ask him for it. Even then, isn't the list of people with a LTCF confidential?

Dominguez said he decided to take the photo because the situation concerns him. "You don't want violence around a school zone," he said, adding that the right to bear arms "doesn't give [the guard] a right" to carry a gun in or near a school

Nope, you don't want violence in a school zone. You want to disarm everyone so it can be a massacre. Am I the only one thinking that this could have easily been resolved in far less time than it took to write the story? Must have been a slow news day.

That's what is stated on the application, however it doesn't say if the fact that you have a LTCF can be disclosed, just the information put on the application. So to answer your question, I'm not sure.

Did he enter a vehicle or conceal it?
Nevermind. Less than a thousand feet. I get it.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Less than a thousand feet, he would need a LTCF, I guess. But it's no one's business if he has one, is it? I can't walk around Walmart and ask everyone carrying a child if it's their child, or if they kidnapped it, I guess.
