1911 in 38 special anyone else have one?
I just got to shoot my first 38spl rounds out my colt national match in 38spl. I have got to say I am in love. I have never really liked shooting 9mm out of a 1911. I have handled five different 1911's in 9mm and worked a couple of different loads. I am officially done. The 148gr hollow based wadcutter rounds for the 38spl are a dream to shoot. Almost no felt recoil and dead on accurate. I highly suggest dropping the money on one of these. Anyone else shot or own a 38spl 1911?

Always wanted one (or a S&W Mod 52) but when I was shooting Bullseye Pistol I didn't have the money. Now I can afford it but Conventional Pistol is out of the picture so there is no impetus to obtain one.
I really hope you're somewhere in an area where NRA Conventional Pistol matches are being held. You'll love it for all the events, 50 yard Slow Fire and the 25 yard Timed and Rapid fire will make the gun shine!
Best of luck!
And just as a reminder, if you handload, do not try to push the LHBWC hard!

I had one, original Colt with a "MR" serial number. Accurate pistol and I would have kept it but a dealer had a 1885 Winchester that I really liked and he liked that Colt so...............
I also have a 52 Smith so I talked myself into letting the Colt go. Very nice pistol that you can enjoy and never lose money on it if you want to sell later. Best wishes with it.Last edited by saleen322; May 31st, 2013 at 06:10 AM.

Lately I've been thinking that a 1911 in .38 Super would be fun, but one I. .38 special would be even better, save picking up new dies and brass, I had kind of forgot that they existed.

My brother owns a Colt that was converted to shoot .38 Special wadcutters by a gunsmith named Alton Dinan. The sights are kind of bizarre looking; it was meant for competitive shooting.

I've always considered picking up a Coonan in .357 Mag but a .38SP sounds like a better idea to me.....
Damn this thread!!!!!

I'm pretty sure you can get a softer recoil spring for a Coonan to allow you to shoot 38 specials, don't believe anything else is needed.
