Default PA HB 1010 48 hour Waiting Period & All Sales At FFL

Is anyone following this in the PA House? What I don't understand is why my Rep. Paul Clymer, is co-sponsoring this. The national sites are saying that:

Rep. Paul Clymer (R-Perkasie), and Todd Stephens (R-North Wales) a lead member on the House Judiciary Committee are co-sponsors of HB-1010.

HB-1010 would require ALL firearm sales in Pennsylvania to take place in front of a licensed importer, manufacturer, dealer or county sheriff -- complete with a 48-hour waiting period.

    Santarsiero says on his website:

HARRISBURG, April 23 – State Representative Steve Santarsiero, D-Bucks, reacted today, along with CeaseFire PA and Mayors Against Illegal Guns, to today’s Capitol rally hosted by the Second Amendment Action Group.

Specifically, Santarsiero defended his legislation to close a loophole that prevents background checks on all gun sales in Pennsylvania.

"House Bill 1010 in no way infringes Second Amendment rights," he said. "It simply closes the last remaining background check loophole. Pennsylvania has an opportunity to take a small step toward responsible gun ownership with House Bill 1010, something that Congress seems unable to do.

"My legislation uses the already existing background check system to make sure criminals and the mentally unstable do not have the ability to purchase assault-style weapons. Right now in Pennsylvania, criminals have the ability to purchase an assault-style rifle even though that same criminal would not have the ability to purchase a handgun.

Does this have a chance of passing?

Why did Clymer and Stephens, join with some of the most radical, gun-grabbers in the Commonwealth? I don't know about Stephens but Clymer has always taken pride in being very pro-gun which makes me wonder if this has a snowball's chance. Or, are we sleeping at the switch? All I see is that no timetable has been set for a vote.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Makes me a sad man to see my State Rep on that list. Not that my rep was known for being a pro-gun rep in the first place...

EDIT: gave my rep a call to let em know how I felt about the bill...

Apparently Clymer signed on too at some point. I don't know if he is still co-sponsoring or if he withdrew. I wrote and asked him.

Thanks for bringing this up. Emails sent, phone calls tomorrow.

I've started following certain people's advice at this point and ask that if my politician cannot uphold their oath of office that they resign. I then go on to tell them I will financially support and volunteer my time for anyone voting against gun control or running against gun-control proponents in the next election. Facts obviously doesn't work, maybe a pledge of support for pro-gun politicians will.

This bill is a little confusing since repealing part of our gun laws will make them worse. I hope this is pointed out to busy legislators across the state.

    Greetings,

Rep Clymer is NOT a cosponsor of this bill! This was brought up back in April and I contacted him about it. His reply to my inquiry below:

    Rep Clymer,

Thank you VERY much! Your continued support is much appreciated.

    Best, Jim

So now the Anti's are just placing names on bills to make it seem like people agree with them... lovely.

Wouldn't put it past them anyways.

    So when's the next rally?

Jim, thanks for letting us know that. He's still listed on the official PDF and the national gun boards and some organizations still believe he's a co-sponsor because of that. He needs to put out a press release and set the record straight, in my opinion. I've had at least two recent emails stating he is supporting it.
