Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
Starting to work down some loads for my 300 blackout. Using 210 and 220 grain Sierras over Reloader 7 and Remington 7.5 primers. Took some pictures just because these things just look funny, big fat projectiles in a little case.

Re: Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
Nice!
I was doing the same over the weekend.
Using some 1680 under Nolser 190gr.
Looks like 11.8-12.0 is going to be my next test batch.
I was getting 930fps avg with 11.6 but no bolt lock on an empty mag. So i need to raise the charge a hair and see what happens. Looking to get right around 1000fps with complete cycle and bolt lock.HGW, llc ~ Title 1 & NFA sales/manufacturing ~ Transfers - Title 1 $20 - NFA $50

Re: Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
If I ever get my 2k of brass, I'll be joining you reloading for 300BO.
I'm using a bolt action, so I have a bunch of 168/178 bullets to load subsonics for....I also have one box of 208 Amax to load as well.
Have you looked at Lehigh Defense? I'm going to be buying their 194gr bullets for whitetail this year. Lehigh also offers a bullet that fragments as well. Those Lehigh bullets are pricey, but they look impressive.

Re: Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
I haven't had any luck the last few months finding A1680, so it's RE-7 for me. I'm starting the load off at 11 grains with no crimp and 1/2 a turn crimp on the Lee FCD.

Re: Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
I could not find any for the longest time.
Scored 2 lbs the other day.
I had been using Lil Gun with not a whole lot of success, even with a pistol length gas system. So i'll save it for 147gr supers.HGW, llc ~ Title 1 & NFA sales/manufacturing ~ Transfers - Title 1 $20 - NFA $50

Re: Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
Very cool.
I'm a member at Souderton-Harleysville Game, Fish, & Forestry, and last time I was at the rifle range, one of their crusty volunteer groundskeepers came up and talked my ear off for a good 5 min, not happy about "some guy who's loading 200 grain bullets in a .223"
He went on to say how dumb it was because "if you had to drop the hammer on someone, who cares how loud it is!"
I chuckled and said, "yeah 300 blackout. For a lot of guys this is a bonafide hobby, not just about protection."
His response: "Yeah well his 'hobby' is leaving tumbling and ricocheting bullets all up in our woods. It's bullshit."
I laughed and assured him I'd "keep an eye out" for that guy...
Wish I had the $$ and gear to get started with a suppressed AR in .300 BLK.
Regards,
Bones

Re: Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
Have you read the Lil Gun loading info on the 300 Blackout Forum. Long Lil Gun Thread Very detailed and informative. I haven't gotten a chance to load any Lil Gun yet but I'm planning on it very soon as time allows.

Re: Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
Yes, most of it.
That is where i got the info to try it since that was all i could find locally.
I had a couple of good loads for Lil Gun using my 8" Noveske barrel with a pistol length gas system. Not having my book in front of me at work, i had 3 loads between 980-1040 fps when i tested them on a 50-ish degree day. When i loaded about 30rd at the middle load ~1020fps, i was getting sonic cracks on a WARMER temp day.
So i went back and did it again thinking i loaded the charge wrong, same results of inconsistency. I will put the Lil Gun to use on 147gr plinking rounds, no worries there.
For subs, 1680 for now and i may try some others if i cant find powder.
Its not a major problem if i dont get this done, i have enough other projects with normal work and the gun business to keep me busy.
I could order it and get it shipped straight to me, but im not in the mood to set an account and do haz-mat crap for a few pounds. i will hit local stores that give me a nice hook-up on pricing.
Lets see some Black out rigs fellas!HGW, llc ~ Title 1 & NFA sales/manufacturing ~ Transfers - Title 1 $20 - NFA $50

Re: Subsonic 300 Blackout Loading
Well Kings was out of 1680 today... Guess I'll stick to working up these Reloader 7 rounds.
