Beretta has no plans to leave yet?
Beretta has no plans to leave yet?
One thing you can say with absolute certainty about the big gun manufacturers is that, unlike many other American companies, they stand by their principles and are as good as their word. Beretta, which is the world’s oldest firearms manufacturer, promised that, if Maryland passed its strict (and almost certainly ineffectual) post-Sandy Hook gun control laws, Beretta would pack its bags and leave the state.
On Friday, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley signed into law the state’s comprehensive new gun control laws. The new laws, the stated purpose of which is to “save lives,” ban some “assault weapons” (whatever the heck gun grabbers think those imaginary weapons are), limits magazine capacity to ten rounds, and requires mandatory fingerprinting for gun purchase.
Beretta, a corporation operating under the constitutional protection of the Second Amendment, brought lots money into and created lots jobs in Maryland. Maryland responded by making large parts of Beretta’s business illegal or prohibitively inconvenient. Showing the principled good sense that all of the major gun manufacturers have shown lately, Beretta is taking its plan and its jobs and its money and leaving town.

Just found this story this morning!
It seems that Beretta is backpedaling from their threat to move from Maryland?
Despite Beretta's threats that the company would leave Maryland if new gun laws were passed and signed by Gov. Martin O'Malley, Beretta USA has no current plans to abandon its headquarters in Prince George's County.

Re: Beretta Leaving Maryland After Gov. Mandates Strict Gun Control Laws
Well you can be sure the EPA will make their move expensive when the federal administration gives the green light to harass Beretta.

Time will tell, but according to a statement they issued on their own blog, they are staying in MD, at least for now. It seems as if any future growth would NOT be happening in MD.
"At the same time, we will continue our current necessary operations within Maryland and we are thankful for and welcome the continued support of our employees as we do so."

Re: Beretta Leaving Maryland After Gov. Mandates Strict Gun Control Laws
What would really make a difference is if all the gun and ammunition manufactures completely stopped selling firearms and ammo to all federal law enforcement agencies.
Moving out of state is one thing, but it keeps the issue at a state level.
A real wake up call would come when the local federal thugs have no new firearms to buy and no ammunition to shoot out of the old ones they still have in stock."One must be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves” ~ Machiavelli

Fingerprinting on every gun purchase. Sounds like a burden on the State Police. They already have a waiting period. I wonder how long it will take to get prints back.

I'll believe it when I see it. Wonder if Atlantic Arms would move to DE or PA?
Remmy sucked under and stayed in NY. Haven't heard squat from Kimber, American Tactical, Colt is staying, Mossberg? Whatevah.
Oh well, for me - no new monies to any gun mfg or wholesaler in an anti-2A state. Plenty of substitutes available from Free America states if you look. All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.
