Default Purchasing firearms in PA PICS

I've lived in 5 different states and have never had a problem purchasing handguns before. I move to PA and they put me in "research." WTF. After a week they say I'm denied. I've just sent in a challenge form. Is PA typically against people owning firearms or are they just paranoid about out of state residents moving into the state? I'm beginning to wish I had stayed in West Virginia.

I too have lived in many other states and I have to say that the Pennsylvania PICS system is a huge pain in the balls.

It took me a month to get my LTCF, but thankfully I did get it.

The only thing you can do is make sure you arent a "Prohibited Person" under PA state law and send in the PICS denial challenge form.

There is a member here who is an attorney that can help you with that. His member name in GUNLAWYER.

    How do I contact GUNLAWYER?

You don't need a LTCF in WV to carry a handgun unless it is concealed. otherwise, if you own a handgun, you can simply carry it in a holster, but it needs to be visible (The cops in WV don't like this law).

Are there laws in PA regulating rifles?

you don't need a LTCF for that here in PA either.

Rifles are not registered in Pennsylvania.

if you want to contact GUNLAWER, you can search for his username here... or you can wait til he just makes an appearance.

Reading the statutes would provide you everything you need to know about why you might be prohibited (if the pics decline was not a mistake), and to become better versed with firearm law in general.

    ....and here I am....

When in PA, you can be denied a gun purchase by either Federal laws, or PA laws, just as when you were in West Virginia you could be denied by WV or Federal laws.

So there's that, you may have something in your record that was not a problem under VA law, but is under PA law.

There has also been a recent improvement in the national database, states are sharing some info better than they used to. So PICS may have more complete info now than your previous states did.

Then there's always confusion with someone else. Often this is due to someone with the same name who has a protective order taken out against him, and the girl he shacked up with didn't have his date of birth or SSN when she got the order, so it's hard to tell if you're him.

If you answered the challenge form honestly, you'll find out in a couple of weeks or so.
