Quick question: Are DCNR/DEP offices prohibited places for carry?
So I am back in PA, and my wife and I are looking for our own place. In the meantime, we are staying with her parents.
My wife recently started a job with the DEP. She works at the DCNR/DEP office on 611 in Swiftwater. We are staying literally a quarter mile from her work, so twice a day on her breaks, I bring our daughter down to see her so she can breastfeed.
I'm pretty sure that the building is a Federal Gov. building, so I've been leaving my carry weapon at home when bringing her down because I go inside with my wife and daughter.
Just to be sure, is this necessary? Or is this office OK for carry?Everyone should have an AK-47

Did you ask your wife or someone who works there?
I would bring it up next time, casually of course. Something like "Hey, I was just wondering is this a Federal building or State run?".

DEP is a State agency.

Re: Quick question: Are DCNR/DEP offices prohibited places for carry?
She can't carry but there is nothing prohibiting a member of the public from carrying. I am a fellow employee but work in a different office. As I understand it the pocono office is state only but she should ask her office manager. DEP and DCNR are state agencies. EPA is federal. Tell her to refer to the workplace violence policy. As I understand the UFA, the pre-emption portion prevents the individual agency from enacting rules or regulations further restricting firearms, but all bets are off for employees.

Yeah, I know she's not allowed. That doesn't matter, I gave up on convincing her a long time ago. She was raised in a very liberal household, but she is intelligent and understands the need for society to allow good people access to weapons. However, she maintains this perpetual, on-the-fence, don't-care-about-firearms-one-way-or-the-other attitude. Eh, whatever, I love her, and she is certainly not anti.
I was only asking for me... But to be honest, I was sure that this was a fed building... If I can confirm otherwise, I will be quite pleased. Obviously, I would CC, and do it well, as I don't want to make any bad waves with my wife's new superiors. But I would be very happy to find out that I can carry.Everyone should have an AK-47

If it was a Federal building, there'd be 18 USC 930 signs posted stating "No Guns Allowed" (or words to that effect).
Where DEP and DCNR get their money from is immaterial - they are Pa. state agencies.
