Default The Glock strikes again ...

This is what happens when a shovel manufacturer makes a pistol with a ridiculous, poorly thought-out disassembly procedure.

A 2-year-old boy accidentally shot in the face outside his Deptford home Thursday afternoon was recovering at Cooper University Hospital in critical but stable condition today, authorities said.

The boy's father is a Deptford Police officer, Gloucester County authorities said.

I fail to see how the pistol malfunctioned? Perhaps you meant to say, this is what happens when someone is negligent with a firearm, points a loaded weapon at a child, and pulls the trigger?

Calm down. Of course he was negligent; you never point a loaded weapon (all weapons being always loaded) at anything that you aren't willing to destroy.

The Glock's trigger has to be pulled before disassembly. First you drop the magazine, then you rack the slide not once, but three times, and then look for clear. Then, and only then, can you disassemble. Mess up the order, pull the trigger, have a brain fade, and you discharge the weapon.

I had a Glock in '85 or so. Did you?

No. I don't own a Glock. I've used a friend's numerous times, though. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, though. I'm not attacking or criticizing Glock.

The glock isnt poorly thought it. It was user error.

My opinion on this is that the shovel manufacturer designed an extremely simple, easy to use ,easier to field strip pistol.

I believe most police departments and any firearm training facility (LEO or other) review the 4 basic rules of how to safely handle any firearm.

Now, was there some part of LEARNING how to use said pistol you apparently do not understand?

My match 1911 let a round go in the house go before I got a new hammer put in, but I had it pointed at a wall instead of some 2 year old.
    Glock pistols are GREAT guns.

If something is idiot proof only an idiot would want it.

Firearm external key locks suck, as do chambers that have part of the brass exposed.

Just can't bring myself to blame a gun for firing when someone pulls the trigger. That's what they are supposed to do.

Let me make this ABUNDANTLY clear, then, since you've never cleaned a Glock.

If you field strip a Glock, the procedure is thus:

    1. Drop magazine.

    2. Unload chamber.

    3. PULL TRIGGER.

    4. etc., etc., etc.

If you reverse nos. 2 and 3, you get a discharge, provided that you were disassembling a previously loaded pistol. That's bad design.

Be a mensch. Next time your friend lets you shoot his Glock, offer to clean it for him. You'll get the picture.

You've got me beat by one year in glock ownership, but I've had at least one ever since.
