I don't believe that statement could be further from the truth. But has anybody else ever ran into that mindset or frame of thought?

Recreational shooting is definitely too expensive for me. Since prices went crazy I haven't shot any of my guns.

Umm Guns can be quite addicting.

    I don't have a Gun problem. Lol
Having a few firearms and regular range sessions is fairly reasonable.

I think it depends on the type of "firearms and shooting". For just going to the range on the weekends to plink, by no means. But getting into action shooting sports (CAS, 3Gun, sporting clays) it can be.

I myself said it the other day to someone. Sad, but true.

    A couple of thoughts:

You can spend a lot on guns but you don't have to. Ammo is expensive, if you shoot a lot but if you lean on .22 LR it's not so bad.

Just like any hobby you can spend a lot or a little and still enjoy it.

On the other hand, the government is TRYING to make it a rich man's sport. With plans to individually mark ammo casings, require insurance to own a weapon, and buying up all the ammo that is produced, they are driving up the cost to own and operate a gun. And that does not include the increased supply and demand costs due to a run on the market from all the ban talk and new laws. Some of these laws and policies have been criticized as being racist since inner city people living in poverty (specifically African Americans) will have a harder time complying.

You're offended by that statement? I believe that firearms are indeed a rich mans sport. I make under $10/hour and have car payments do you think after that I have much in the way for ammo, especially with the ammo shortages? I haven't fired my centerpiece rifles since November not have I fired not rimfire/pistol weapons since December. Folks who are shooting regularly now a days are only people who make very generous salaries.

Last summer I was able to afford the range trips twice a month but now if I can go every other month I will be lucky.
Sanity, yours if you can keep it.....
