Open Carry Laws
Is it legal to OC handguns/rifles in Lancaster County? Particularly in the Lititz/Rothsville area? Can you OC a rifle/shotgun at 18?

Re: Open Carry Laws
It is legal to OC in the entire state. There are a few exceptions that you can find by looking in the reference library. For example, in a city of the first class (Philly) or during a declared State of Emergency.
You can OC a long gun at 18. If I am not mistaken, and IANAL, you could even CC a long gun due to them not being defined as a firearm.Last edited by XavierBK; April 29th, 2013 at 01:08 PM.

Re: Open Carry Laws
You have a citation for that?
Firearms as defined under 18 Pa.C.S. § 6102: Definitions: "Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable.
So any as long as the barrel is more than 18 inches or 26 inches OAL would not be defined as a firearm which is what 6109 (License) covers.
That's what I've read here previously, anyway.

Re: Open Carry Laws
This is wrong, you can CC a long gun without a LTCF.
As we often say, laws make things illegal. Where's the law that makes CC a longarm illegal?
This is the definition of firearm under 6106.
"Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable.Last edited by zackattack784; April 29th, 2013 at 01:37 PM.
I am not a lawyer and nothing I say should be construed as legal advice.

Re: Open Carry Laws
OK, so I just gave myself a refresher course. I have been understanding firearms to be carried with a ltcf as defined above, but presumed concealed carry of a firearm not covered by the ltcf to be illegal, ie long guns.
While on foot and loaded that is.FUCK BIDEN

Re: Open Carry Laws
In my case I'll be OC'ing an AK-74M or an AR-15 if it matters. What you guys have told me is very helpful. Spasiba.

Yea, while it may be legal it's not something I'd do alone. I'd like to have someone there to get any possible encounters on video.
