Default Mosin Nagant - cheek riser mod

I built a cheek riser for my Mosin Nagant M38. Now I get a perfect cheek weld through the Weaver 2x8 pistol scope. I though you guys might be interested.

    Is that a M38?

Looks like an M38, no attachment point for the bayonet on the barrel. Or its an M91/59 or something similar.

Looks good, I tried to minimize any permanent alterations to my M44. I ended up going with a boyd's stock, an S&K mount like you did and a BSA edge optic.

How is the weaver holding up? Still holding Zero?

    Fragger:
The M38 is a carbine version of the Mosin Nagant and does not have a fixed bayonet like the M44

    Stampeed Valkyrie:

I'm happy with the Weaver scope; It has performed very well and maintains its zero.

I origionally tried a Brass Stacker scope mount but was very dissapointed with it. It would drift down during firing so I returned it and got an S&K which is rock solid.

I'm probably just derp but I gotta ask.

Which parts did you locktite? I am trying to figure out if its the scope or the mount moving.

    Thanks,
    Rob

I put Locktite on all of the screws on the S&K mount, including the rings. SO far, everything has been solid. I know how frustrating it is to have a mount/scope issue that you can't put your finger on, it makes you crazy.

If you can get your hands on a different scope, I would swap it out first and see if you're having the same issue. Hell even a red dot would work and let you know if the mount is drifting or not.

    Yeah I know I have a couple of them along with a M91/59 M44's M91 and M91/30's thanks.

Are those bolts you have through the stock to hold the cheek rest on?

    Yes,
I used button head bolts and thread inserts to mount the cheek riser.

The cheek riser is cut from a plastic 55 gal drum, which I think is the best plastic you can use for this application.
