Default do i need to dehumidify my gun safe?

I bought a gun safe a few weeks ago and put it in my upstairs bedroom. I want to know if a gun safe dehumidifier is needed or if its a waste of money? if it is needed what type do you all suggest?

Here is all the details i can think of that may matter. cannon 24 gun fire safe from tractor supply, base board home heating, room is upstairs and in direct sunlight for several hours a day, i use an air conditioner in window at night during summer. temps can range anywhere between 68 ad 95.

I would dehumidify. I have one of those Remington rechargeable units and it works great.

Check to see if your safe has either an outlet inside of it or a hole where a dehumidifier cord can be run through.

If not, we have been using "Damp Rid" in ours and it seems to be working okay.

If your house seems to hold moisture it is a good idea.

And we are coming into rainy Spring when there always seems to be moisture in the air.

Moisture and metal are friends like gun owners and politicians.

I do the same thing, DampRid. I also have a Hydrometer in the safe to monitor the humidity level.

I have two of the Remington rechargeable dehumidifiers for my 10 gun safe. All firearms are wiped down, lightly oiled and placed in a silicone sock. So far so good. Also, I have hydrometer in the safe. The humidity levels never go above 50%. The markings on the meter say that is fine.

I would suggest getting some form of dehumidifying device as insurance. You'll never hear someone complain that they got it but you'll hear people complain that they didn't do something sooner. Just a thought.

I use both a rechargeable Remington unit and Damp Rid in my 24 gun safe.

    Better safe than sorry.

Get some Bore-Stores, or similar Silicon-impregnated 'socks' for your weapons.
Wipe 'em down with some Breakfree, and run a patch through 'em.
Get the Remington desiccant packs, or similar pouches.

I don't own any rifles, and have a smaller safe for my pistols. (damp rid used )
If you have rifles with wood, getting the humidity right would be important right?
